Construction and analysis of a woodchipper
Project revolving the design and analysis of a woodchipping machine
Initially the Woodchipper had to be drawn in solidworks, see image on the right.
We then built machine according to the drawing.
There is a torque transducer attached on the shaft, which measures the torque inflicted as the knife cuts through the wood. Many parameters were tested, which includes the feeding speed, shaft speed, knife shape and orientation.
The data from the transducer was then logged into a .csv file. I then coded a Matlab script that could load .csv files. The data was thereafter analyzed and presented to the company.
